Several international days focus on bullying as school bullying rates have increased drastically in recent years. In the United States, 20% of students aged 12 to 18 already experienced bullying. Anti-Bullying Day is observed in vairous countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and more.
In Canada, it is celebrated on the last Wednesday of February, falling on February 22nd this year. It is also called Pink Shirt Day, marked as a day for which people wear pink shirts to school or work as a sign that they stand against bullying. It originated in 2007 when a kid got teased for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school.
